Funding Your Care
Finding the right support is easier when you understand how care is funded. We’ll help you explore your options, whether you’re considering private payments, local authority support, or other funding routes available in your area. Our team can guide you through what to expect, answer your questions, and explain how domiciliary care can be tailored to fit your needs and budget—so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

Funding Your Care
Care needs assessment: Anyone can ask their local council for a free assessment of their care needs, regardless of income. This is the first step to any council funding.
Financial assessment (means test): If you have eligible needs, the council looks at your savings and income. In England, if your capital is above the upper threshold (currently £23,250 — check the latest figure), you'll usually pay for your own care; below the lower threshold (£14,250) the council contributes more. Your home is *not counted when you're receiving care in your own home.
Direct Payments: If the council agrees to fund some or all of your care, you can ask for the money as a Direct Payment and choose your own provider — including us.
Attendance Allowance: A non-means-tested benefit for people over State Pension age who need help with personal care. Many people who qualify never claim it.
Personal Independence Payment (PIP): The equivalent for people under State Pension age.
Carer's Allowance: For family members providing 35+ hours of care a week.
NHS Continuing Healthcare: Fully NHS-funded care for people whose needs are primarily health-related. Hard to get, but worth knowing about.
Self-funding: Paying privately gives you the most choice and flexibility.
Council top-ups and Deferred Payment Agreements: Brief mention, with a link to your council's adult social care page.
